Travel Training Diary

From Archer Travel Group to Outside Agents

Has it been an easy road? 🩼🚧

Basically, just a lot of work as it is a business and is your baby. Need startup costs. Switching was easy. There’s money-back guarantees. Mock bookings as well as a professional-looking quote request form and quote itself is important. My initial training was good.

Would you return to Archer? I believe so, if I was established and knew I could easily book the qualifying amount or do all that was necessary to qualify for the recruiting side of things.

Offering work from home business opportunities is what I do now. I stand to receive no residual income from any travel referrals with my current host agency.

🌻 My Personal Experience 🌻

Goal: Focus more on training and discovering with confidence why someone should choose you as their agent. Find your specialties.

This is just my experience. My network of people is small from the start. Reality: Booking 6 bookings in your first year is doing good. Others and even many may do more. Having a network from the start helps.

Comparisons

Having to wait 60-90 days after a trip is completed to receive the commission was a bit off-putting with Archer as my funds are dwindling fast. I had to go where the payout was faster at 14-45 days with lower fees.

⚖️ I’ve only gotten a few quote requests and some leads within my first two months of steady working things. I chose to boost posts for my action to happen. I’ve been able to do three quotes with one resulting in a small booking for a day excursion for two. Client asked about a future family trip. Very simple to book with OA using the client portal link for them to pay on their own. No storing driver’s licenses and authorization forms.

Update:

6.18.23 - Since launching my Website Blog, I’ve generated a lot more action and now have nearly 20 leads and have done 6-7 quotes. It’s normal to do up to 20 quotes before landing a booking, at first. Practice in the meantime. It cost me $11 to start my blog and 14hrs/day for one week to set up and start running. Posted all over in FB groups from personal page, follow group rules, keep detailed records . Overnight success!

Price - $70/mo with Evo/Archer & $21/mo with Outside Agents with a possible $50 annual fee to the Department of Agriculture depending on the state you live in. Upgrades available.

You have a mentor with Archer from the start. May still not get questions answered right away. Archer-specific certification. If you leave Archer, you lose your certificate. Steps have to be opened up to you before you can begin training. ❇️ Can take up to a week, had to keep asking for it to open. CRM is user-friendly and the website is nice with a good site link, and professional for a host site. All-day chat is open and can really feel like you’re with everyone all day. Can keep you going if you lose inspiration or get bored.

Sign up on your own. Read directions to start. Once in, help and discussions are timely answered by submitting tickets or emailing. You’re not alone but may feel alone. No pretty certificate but still get your access numbers. No one-on-one mentor with Outside Agents unless scheduled, so get your questions bundled and take notes. Many training courses are openly available.

🧑‍🎓 Learn what you want, when you want, as much as you want. Earn specialist certificates and more. CRM system is not so user-friendly for me. Website link will need editing or shortened. It’s obvious it’s a host site. Receive regular emails and zoom sessions that keep you on track.

Archer has MLM underlying within it. ✨ If you consider recruiting as a further work from home position, go for it. You may have to first book $50k in travel within a 12-year period. Do some research on that if you’re specifically interested in that. Outside Agents is not MLM, and so they focus on their current agents rather than more of the recruiting side of things. Refer at your own will.

❇️ Can always switch back or be with both simultaneously

Why did I switch?

It’s been a slow start. I couldn’t afford the $70/mo. as I have become chained to my home to care for my son. Still have to make money. I have gotten sparse work from Upwork and Door Dashing. I only have $400/mo in bills to pay and I was short of that last month. 💰 I have very little savings to get me through until income tax next year or for things to turn around for me in the next couple of months as many things do for the beginning travel agent.

In the meantime, I am focusing on learning as much as possible during my first year and earning my specialty certificate/s. I need the monthly fee to be as little as possible while still offering access to my favorite vendors along with good commission rates. 🧒 My son’s father is able to work more and is relieved of his mom duties during the day. It’s been a tremendous stress relief for him but a stressful change for me in my income.

Am I happier with Outside Agents? Yes, for the time being, though I wouldn’t mind having a referral link. That’s just me. If I find I never want to have my own travel upline, I would rather be with Outside Agents. I left knowing I could pay small restart fees and away I go again. I ran both simultaneously until I made my decision to leave Archer. This is my understanding.

My journey began in late April of 2023. I know. It hasn’t been long, but the journey has been its own journey for me already. There’s much more info that I haven’t included and am happy to connect further. 🛣️

I look to connect with others, grow and expand in knowledge. I seek to share my own knowledge of other things that have led me to where I am now and how that journey worked out.

How I started - I was looking on Indeed and, of course, was browsing anything remote or work from home. I wanted to become a travel agent, and applied. Everything was through text, pretty much right away. You schedule your I have always wanted to dive into the travel industry and explore more of the world myself with my son.

🌴 Since I live in Florida, I will specialize in the theme parks here and everywhere else along with the 1-3 day excursions including cruises and hotel stays, to start. I plan to focus a lot on my local area with getting business cards out along with other marketing material. I am first going to study further to find my true niche within this industry.

What has high commissions?

Honeymoon trips, though they can be stressful.
